Plants with hysteranthous leaves, solitary, inflorescence up to 500 mm high. Tuber simple, irregularly-shaped, warty, 40 mm long and 28 mm wide; skin rough, light brown, internally pale to deep pink; growing point basal to lateral. Old leaf sheaths about 40 mm long and 6 mm wide, dark brown. Leaf solitary, erect: contemporary leaf sheath exserted 35-40 mm, wiry, reddish tinged at the base becoming green above, covered with fine short white hairs, channelled on the adaxial side; lamina ovate to narrowly lanceolate, apiculate, 50-100 mm long and 20-60 mm wide, glaucous on both surfaces, glabrous or sparsely hairy on the abaxial surface towards the base; margin reddish, undulate in the lower half. Peduncular bract exserted up to 25 mm, lower 15 mm sheathing, 2 mm diameter, red, non-sheathing part ovate, apex acute, about l 0 mm long and 7 mm wide, pale green with a red undulate margin, puberulous. Peduncle 160-220 mm long, 2 mm diameter, glaucous green, basally sometimes puberulous. Raceme lax, 120-220 mm long and up to 50 mm wide, with 10-21 flowers. Bracts ovate attenuate, 1.0-1.5 mm long, thin, membranous, clasping the pedicel, rusty brown with a darker midnerve. Pedicels 25-35 mm long, becoming longer in fruit, wiry, arcuate. Flowers triangular, up to 10 mm diameter, faintly sweet scented in the afternoon. Tepals dimorphic, basally connate for 1 mm, white or cream with a dark green midnerve and sometimes red streaked; outer tepals suberect to spreading, lanceolate with a retrorse twisted apex, 6 mm long and 2.5 mm wide, inner erect, spathulate, only slightly fimbriate, not entirely hiding the filaments, 5 mm long and 3 mm wide. Filaments dimorphic, adnate about 1 mm, the outer broadly ovate 1.8 mm long and 1.25 mm wide, the inner more broadly triangular, 1.5 mm long and 1 mm wide, pale to golden yellow; anthers turquoise or green. Ovary globose, 1.8 mm long and wide, pale green. Style cylindrical, 1.5 mm long and 0.5 mm wide, white.
