Plants with hysteranthous leaves, inflorescence up to 700 mm high. Tuber simple or with stolons, cylindrical to irregularly-shaped, up to 160 mm long and 45 mm diameter, sometimes down to 150 mm underground; skin dark brown becoming wrinkled especially in the older parts, separating easily from the internal flesh, interior white; stolons up to 100 mm long and 8 mm diameter; growing point lateral, sometimes with a slight groove. Old leaf sheaths up to 180 mm long and 10 mm diameter, dark reddish-brown, membranous to fibrous. Leaf solitary, prostrate; contemporary leaf sheath barely exserted, glabrous, white; lamina broadly ovate-cordate, shortly apiculate, up to 120 mm long from apex to depression and 90 mm wide, adaxial surface green to glaucous green, abaxial surface glossy, dark purple or green, glabrous; margin entire. Peduncular bract exserted about 30 mm, non-sheathing part broadly ovate, apex acute, recurved, about 25 mm long and 20 mm wide, green or dark purple abaxially, green adaxially, glabrous. Peduncle up to 300 mm long and 2 mm diameter, glaucous green, glabrous. Raceme dense, narrowly cylindrical to conical, up to 170 mm long and 28-40 mm wide, with up to 60 flowers. Bracts triangular, somewhat saccate, 1.5 mm long, membranous, white. Pedicals up to 14 mm long, erecto-patent. Flowers rotate, about 13 mm diameter, faintly scented. Tepals sub-equal, up to 8 mm long and 3 mm wide, cream or pale green with a green midnerve overlaid with purple streaking often covering the whole of the outer tepals. Filaments equal, adnate to the base of the tepals, lanceolate, 3-4 mm long, white; anthers 0.5-1.0 mm long. Ovary ovoid, 2 mm long and 1.5 mm diameter, green. Style cylindrical, 2 mm long, white.
