Plants with hysteranthous leaves, inflorescence up to 300 mm high. Tuber solitary, globose to sub-globose up to 45 mm long and 40 mm diameter, skin dark brown, coriaceous, interior white, transparent, in older tubers sometimes soft and hollow in the centre; growing point apical, usually solitary, rarely 2 together. Old leaf sheaths up to 30 mm long, and 7 mm wide, brown, fibrous. Leaf solitary, erect; contemporary leaf sheath barely exserted or up to 10 mm long, white, 2 mm diameter, covered with very short harrs, or 1 mm diameter, red, glabrous; lamina elliptic or ovate-cordate up to 80 mm from apex to base, 38 mm wide, adaxially glaucous to pale green and abaxially silvery white, or adaxially dark shiny green, abaxially reddish, glabrous, coriaceous, apex acute, apiculate; margins entire, near the base involute. Peduncular bract exserted by up to 3 mm, green, apex acute, retrorse, fleshy, covered with small transparent blotches giving a shiny appearance, later becoming dry and membranous. Peduncle up to 120 mm long, 1 mm diameter, green with pale reddish streaking. Raceme narrowly cylindrical to conical up to 170 mm long, 20 mm wide, with up to 70 flowers. Bracts triangular, semi-amplexicaul, 1 mm long, membranous, white with a brown midnerve. Pedicels lowest about 14 mm in flower, becoming gradually shorter higher up. Flowers spreading to recurved, about 6 mm diameter. Tepals equal to sub-equal, white with a green midnerve and faint red streaking, outer narrowly elliptic, 3.5 mm long, 1.3 mm wide; inner narrowly lanceolate, 3 mm long, 1.5 mm wide. Filaments all erect in a ring, inner slightly higher and the same height as the stigma, adnate to the base of the tepals for 1 mm, subulate to broadly filiform, up to 3 mm long, white; anthers purple. Ovary ovoid 1.8 mm long, 1.5 mm broad, white with reddish streaking. Style cylindrical, 0.8 mm long, white. Copious nectar is produced at the base of the filaments.
