Plants with hysteranthous leaves, solitary or clump forming, inflorescence up to 200 mm high. Tuber simple or compound, pyriform when young, becoming irregular in shape and more horizontal with age, about 35 mm long and 12 mm wide; skin light brown, interior pale pink; growing point basal to lateral with a slight groove. Old leaf sheaths 40-50 mm long and 2 mm diameter, brown, membranous to fibrous. Leaf one per growing point, prostrate but not adpressed; contemporary leaf sheath barely, or up to 15 mm, exserted, red, with a thin central channel; lamina ovate to orbicular-cordate, up to 35 mm from the apex to the lobes and 28 mm wide, adaxial surface green, abaxially paler, glabrous; margin red, ciliate. Peduncular bract just exserted or up to 5 mm beyond the old leaf sheaths, very dark purple, with a few hairs on the margin. Peduncle up to 160 mm long and 1 mm diameter, basally dark purple and covered with numerous very short hairs, green and glabrous above. Raceme lax, outline irregular, 30-40 mm long, with 9-10 flowers. Bracts triangular, up to 2 mm long, semi-amplexicaul, sometimes somewhat saccate, membranous, brown. Pedicels up to 5 mm long, arcuate, dark green. Flowers campanulate to triangular, about 10 mm diameter. Tepals dimorphic, connate for nearly 1 mm, white with a dark green midnerve overlaid with indigo blue; outer tepals spreading; elliptic, 6 mm long and 2 mm wide, inner erect but not hiding the stamens, spathulate, apex fimbriate with sides pinched together and retrorse, 5 mm long and 2 mm wide. Filaments dimorphic, adnate 1 mm up the tepals, white, outer broadly lanceolate, 1.3 mm long, inner 1 mm long and 1 mm wide at the base; anthers green. Ovary globose, 1 mm long and wide, green. Style cylindrical, 1 mm long, very pale yellow.
