Plant with hysteranthous leaves, inflorescence up to 600 mm high. Tuber simple or compound, irregularly branched, up to 100 mm long and 30 mm wide; outer skin light greyish-brown, interior white; growing point lateral. Old leaf sheaths up to 110 mm long and 6 mm wide, dark brown, membranous on the outside becoming fibrous and lighter coloured near ground level. Leaf solitary from each growing point, sub-erect; contemporary leaf sheath exserted up to 200 mm, 3 mm diameter, funnel-shaped and channelled at the base of the lamina, pale green, glabrous; lamina broadly ovate-cordate, 150 mm from the apex to the base and up to 105 mm wide, thin, both surfaces light green, glabrous, longitudinal and transverse veins prominent when pressed; margin entire. Peduncular bract sheathing part dark red near ground level, leaf-like; non-sheathing part lanceolate, 30 mm long and 13 mm wide, light green with a yellow margin, glabrous. Peduncle 450 mm long, 3 mm diameter, light green towards the base, more glaucous above. Raceme compact, cylindrical, 150 mm long, and 15 mm wide, sub-spicate, with about 60 flowers. Bracts triangular, with attenuate twisted apex, 2.5 mm long, membranous, light brown. Pedicels up to 7 mm long, very wiry, whitish, erecto-patent. Flowers cup-shaped, barely opening. Tepals sub-equal, white with a faint narrow green midnerve; outer tepals elliptic 4.5 mm long and 1.8 mm wide, inner spathulate, 4 mm long and 2.2 mm wide. Filaments adnate to the base of the tepals, lanceolate, about 2 mm long and barely 1 mm wide, white; anthers about 0.5 mm long. Ovary ovoid, 1.5 mm long and 1 mm diameter, bright green. Style cylindrical, 1 mm long, white.
