Plants with hysteranthous leaves, inflorescence up to 120 mm high. Tubers simple or multiple, up to 30 mm high and 50 mm wide; skin pale greyish-brown, with a mottled appearance when dried, coriaceous, interior yellowish-white; roots arising in a ring near the base; growing point apical. Old leaf sheaths up to 90 mm long and 8 mm wide increasing to 15 mm near ground level, membranous, light greyish-brown. Leaf solitary, semi-erect; contemporary leaf sheath exserted 20-50 mm, grooved so that the base of the lamina is folded in on the upper side, white at the base becoming green above; lamina ovate, up to 70 mm long and 50 mm wide, green, fleshy to coriaceous, glabrous, with conspicuous close longitudinal veins especially on the underside, showing up well in dried specimens. Peduncle up to 65 mm long, 1.5 mm diameter, grey-green with faint red streaking, glabrous. Peduncular bract exserted 5-6 mm, ovate, apiculate, green becoming membranous. Raceme lax, almost corymbose, 20-50 mm long and 45 mm wide, with 7-21 flowers. Bracts triangular, somewhat saccate, semiamplexicaul, 2 mm long, membranous, white with a red midnerve. Pedicels arcuate, lowest 22 mm long, glaucous. Flowers spreading to recurved, up to 20 mm diameter. Tepals connate at the extreme base only, equal, narrowly elliptic, 11 mm long, 3 mm broad, white with a green midnerve and faint red streaking. Filaments erect, equal, outer and inner nearly the same height, very narrowly lanceolate, 5 mm long and 1.5 mm wide at the base tapering to 0.5 mm where the anthers are joined, white; anthers yellow. Ovary ovoid, 2 mm high and 1.5 mm wide, white. Style 3 mm long, slightly twisted, white.
