Plants with hysteranthous leaves, solitary, inflorescence up to 150 mm high. Tuber simple or multiple with several growing points, pyriform to oblong or irregular in shape, 60 mm long and 25 mm wide; skin greyish-brown, interior pink to maroon red; growing point basal or lateral. Old leaf sheaths up to 80 mm long and 5 mm wide expanding to 20 mm at ground level, membranous, silvery-brown. Leaf solitary, erect; contemporary leaf sheath exserted up to 85 mm, usually much less, 3 mm diameter, pale green with a few red streaks, glabrous, swollen at ground level; lamina orbicular to broadly ovate-cordate, apiculate, apex recurved; numerous enations on the adaxial surface, narrowly terete, up to 70 mm long and 0.5-1.0 mm diameter, with some branching, forming a mop-like head, lamina and processes bright green, glabrous. Peduncular bract just reaching ground level, non-sheathing part 3 mm long, ovate attenuate, fleshy, green, with revolute margins. Peduncle up to 100 mm long and 1.5 mm diameter, reddish-green at the base becoming green above. Raceme cylindrical with a rounded apex, dense, up to 80 mm long and 20 mm wide, with up to 60 flowers. Bracts cymbiform, nearly 2 mm long, membranous, white with a brown midnerve. Pedicels up to 6 mm long, pale green. Flowers spreading to give a triangular outline, 10 mm diameter. Tepals dimorphic, white with a blue or blue-green midnerve, outer tepals spreading elliptic, acute, up to 6.5 mm long and 2 mm wide, inner erect, surrounding but not completely enclosing the stamens, broadly spathulate with crisped and connivent apices, 5.5 mm long and 2.5 mm wide. Filaments sub-equal, white, outer adnate to the base of the tepals, narrowly lanceolate, 2 mm long and 1 mm wide near the base, inner adnate 1 mm up the tepals, triangular, nearly 2 mm long and 1 mm wide at the base; anthers yellow. Ovary ovoid, 1.8 mm long and wide, pale green. Style cylindrical, 2 mm long, white.
