Plants with hysteranthous leaves, solitary, inflorescence up to 210 mm high. Tuber irregular in shape, about 25 mm high and 50 mm wide; skin pale brown, interior pale pink becoming maroon red in the older part; growing point basal. Old leaf sheaths up to 150 mm long, greyish-brown, fibrous. Leaf solitary, erect; contemporary leaf sheath exserted up to 10 mm, 1 mm diameter, white or if exserted, reddish-pink, glabrous; lamina ovate to elliptic, base obtuse, apex apiculate, up to 70 mm long and 55 mm broad, both surfaces glaucous green, glabrous, somewhat coriaceous; margin entire, undulate. Peduncular bract barely exserted, membranous, amplexicaul except the apical 3 mm which is acute, retrorse and sometimes reddish-brown. Peduncle erect, up to 100 mm long, 1 mm diameter, dark purple streaked, glaucous above. Raceme up to 140 mm long and 15 mm across with 16 to 30 flowers. Bracts deltate, barely 1 mm long, membranous, white with a brown midnerve, lower spurred and clasping the pedicels. Pedicels up to 6 mm long, erecto-patent in flower becoming more erect and close to the rachis in fruit, glaucous, thickened below the flower. Flower globose, scarcely opening. Tepals dimorphic, white with a dark green midnerve overlaid with red streaking; outer elliptic, acute, 2.5 mm long and 1.5 mm wide, inner broadly spathulate or almost orbicular, apex slightly pinched-in and frilled, 2 mm long and 1.8 mm wide. Filaments adnate to the base of the tepals; subequal, broadly ovate, flattened, 1 mm long and 1 mm wide at the base, inner very slightly narrower than the outer, white or reddish-purple, fleshy; anthers white. Ovary globose, 1 mm long and wide, pale green with small reddish-brown blotches. Style cylindrical, barely 1 mm long, cream.
