Plants with hysteranthous leaves, solitary, inflorescence up to 280 mm high. Tuber pyriform to irregularly-shaped, 40 mm long, 28 mm wide; skin light fawn, interior pale to deep pink; growing point basal. Old leaf sheaths up to 140 mm long, 8 mm wide, inner layers of greyish-brown, tough, reticulate fibres, becoming loose and bristly above-ground, outer layers becoming more membranous. Leaf solitary, erect; contemporary leaf sheath exserted up to 20 mm, 4 mm wide, green to reddish-green, densely covered with 2-3 mm long, reflexed white hairs; lamina narrowly lanceolate, up to 90 mm long, 15 mm broad, olive green, densely villous, with a distinct raised midrib, the upper third somewhat spirally twisted, margin irregularly undulate. Peduncular bract hardly exserted above the old leaf sheaths, very thin, colourless, membranous, hispid. Peduncle up to 150 mm long, over 1 mm diameter, reddish-green, glaucous. Raceme narrowly compact up to 90 mm long, 12-14 mm wide, with up to 30 flowers. Bracts triangular, 1 mm long, semi-amplexicaul, recurved. Pedicels up to 4 mm long in flower, erecto-patent, reddish-brown. Flowers from above triangular, 8 mm across. Tepals dimorphic, pale cream with a green midnerve and overlaid with fine red striations, basally connate for 1 mm; the outer spreading, apex somewhat recurved, narrowly lanceolate, 6.0-6.5 mm long, 2 mm wide; the inner erect, enclosing the stamens and carpel, broadly spathulate with shortly connivent apex, somewhat fimbriate, 5 mm long and 2.5 mm wide. Filaments basally adnate for 1.5 mm to the tepals, equal to subequal, triangular, 1.5 mm long, inner less than 1 mm wide at the base, outer somewhat wider, white with a faint purplish tinge; anthers 1 mm long, yellow. Ovary globose 1.3 mm long, 1.3 mm wide, green. Style cylindrical, 1.5 mm long, white.
