Plants with hysteranthous leaves, solitary, inflorescence up to 420 mm high. Tuber almost globose \when young, becoming irregularly cylindrical, horizontal, up to 80 mm long and 35 mm wide; outer skin tough, corky, dark brown, interior deep pink; growing point basal or lateral with a slight groove for the shoot. Old leaf sheaths up to 50 mm long and 7 mm diameter at the widest near ground level, greyish-brown, fibrous. Leaf solitary, erect; contemporary leaf sheath exserted up to 55 mm, 1 mm diameter, widening and channelled near the base of the lamina, dark reddish-green at the base becoming green above, glabrous; lamina elliptic to narrowly or broadly lanceolate, up to 100 mm long and 65 mm wide, glabrous, thin, longitudinal veins prominent when pressed, shortly mucronate, green to glaucous green on both surfaces. Peduncular bract exserted 22 mm, sheathing at the base, then lanceolate, 8-10 mm long, 6 mm wide, green, glabrous. Peduncle 330 mm long, 1.0-1.5 mm diameter, green. Raceme lax, 110 mm long and 70 mm wide, with up to 35 flowers. Bracts triangular, 1.5 mm long, membranous, whitish with a dark brown midnerve, slightly saccate. Pedicels with the lowest 5-40 mm long, the upper much shorter, wiry, erecto-patent, arcuate, green. Flowers from above circular to triangular in outline, spreading, up to 10 mm diameter. Tepals dimorphic, connate for 1 mm from the base, white with a green midnerve overlaid with reddish-brown streaking; outer tepals suberect, elliptic to lanceolate, 5 mm long and 3 mm wide, the inner erect enclosing the stamens, broadly spathulate, apex crisped and pinched-in, 5 mm long and 3.5 mm wide. Filaments sub-equal, adnate to the tepals about 1 mm from the base, white, the outer broadly ovate, up to 1.3 mm long and 1.3 mm wide, the inner somewhat wider and shorter; anthers green. Ovary globose, ~bout 1.5 mm long and 1.5 mm diameter, green. Style cylindrical, 1.3 mm long, white.
