Plants synanthous, inflorescence up to 250 mm high. Tuber small to medium sized, globose becoming elongated vertically or multiple with age, up to 35 mm long, and 65 mm wide; skin light to greyish brown, thin or tough and wrinkled; interior pale pink or dark maroon red throughout; growing point apical, !-several per tuber. Old leaf sheaths forming a membranous neck up to 20 mm wide and 5-70 mm long, light brown, membranous to fibrous. Leaves 1-4 per growing point, erect; contemporary leaf sheath barely exserted; lamina narrowly lanceolate to elliptic, sheathing at the base, attenuate, up to 120 mm long, 18 mm wide, or 55 mm long, 28 mm wide, somewhat fleshy to coriaceous, both surfaces green, glabrous, margin thickened. Peduncle 60-80 mm long, green, glabrous. Racemes 1-4 per growing point, lax, up to 120 mm long and 70 mm wide, with up to 16 flowers. Bracts triangular, 2 mm long, brown, membranous, semi-amplexicaul. Pedicels: lower up to 70 mm long, upper less than 10 mm long, green, glabrous. Flowers at first campanulate, the perianth becoming recurved when fully open, up to 15 mm diameter. Tepals sub-equal, narrowly elliptic, white with faint red stippling giving a pinkish appearance especially in bud, with a dark reddish-brown or blue midnerve; the outer up to 9 mm long and 2 mm wide, the inner with the sides tending to fold inwards, up to 11 mm long and 3 mm wide. Filaments adnate to the base of the tepals for about 2 mm, sub-equal, narrowly subulate, apiculate; the outer filaments about 6 mm long, inner 7 mm long, with drops of nectar at the base. Ovary ovoid, about 3 mm long, 2.5 mm wide, white. Style narrowly cylindrical, 3.5-4.0 mm long, white. Capsule 7 mm long, 6 mm wide. Seed 3 mm long, with hairs 5-6 mm long.
