Plants with hysteranthous leaves, solitary, inflorescence up to 80 mm high. Tuber compact, unlobed or rarely lobed, up to 60 mm high and 75 mm wide; skin pale brown, interior opaque, white; growing point basal. Old leaf sheaths up to 60 mm long and 5 mm wide becoming spread out at ground level to 15 mm wide, greyish-brown, membranous. Leaf solitary, erect; contemporary leaf sheath exserted up to 20 mm, 2.5 mm wide at the base, broadening gradually to merge into the lamina, pink to dull purple; lamina broadly elliptic to orbicular, basally conduplicate, up to 80 mm long and 55 mm wide, thick and coriaceous, both surfaces thickly covered with short bristle-like hairs; margin 1-2 mm thick. Peduncular bract barely exserted. Peduncle up to 37 mm long. Raceme narrowly conical, compact, 35 mm long and 20 mm wide, with up to 15 flowers. Bracts ovate, apiculate, 1.5-2.0 mm long, transparent with a brown midnerve. Pedicels up to 4 mm long, erecto-patent. Flowers triangular outlined, up to 10 mm diameter. Tepals dimorphic, white with a green midnerve; the outer spreading, elliptic, acute, up to 6 mm long and 2.5 mm wide, the inner suberect, spathulate to ob lanceolate with a short pinched-in fimbriate apex, 5 mm long and 3 mm wide. Filaments narrowly lanceolate, the outer attached to the base of the tepals, the inner joined 1 mm up the tepals, 2 mm long and 1.5 mm wide, white. Ovary ovoid, 1.5 mm long, dark brownish-green. Style cylindrical, 1.5 mm long, white.
