Plants with hysteranthous leaves, solitary, inflorescence 300-400 mm high. Tuber depresso-globose, up to 42 mm long, 40 mm wide; skin dark brown, thick, rough and flaky, interior tough, corky, white; growing point apical. Old leaf sheaths up to 60 mm long, 10 mm wide, dark reddish-brown, fibrous, bristly on top. Leaf solitary, erect; contemporary leaf sheath exserted up to 130 mm, terete, 1-2 mm diameter, straight or lightly coiled 1-2 times, purple at the base turning glaucous as it merges into the lamina, glabrous; lamina narrowly lanceolate to falcate, cuneate, acuminate, mucronate, up to 140 mm long and 17 mm wide, glaucous green, glabrous, coriaceous, with prominent parallel veins; margin thickened or involute. Peduncular bract not observed above ground. Peduncle up to 180 mm long, 1 mm diameter, lower 15 mm dark red, green above, glabrous. Raceme very lax, 90-320 mm long and up to 100 mm wide, with up to 50 flowers. Bracts triangular, 1-2 mm long, membranous with a brown midnerve. Pedicels lower up to 180 mm long, upper 10-20 mm, erecto-patent, arcuate. Flowers campanulate becoming spreading to recurved in bright sun, about 14 mm diameter. Tepals subequal, lemon to bright yellow with a green midnerve overlaid with red streaking; outer lorate to elliptic, 3-10 mm long, 1.5 mm wide, inner spathulate to cymbiform, 3-10 mm long, 1-2 mm wide. Filaments subequal, filiform, to narrowly lanceolate, yellow, inner erect, 3 mm long, outer more spreading 2.3 mm long: anthers small, ovoid. Ovary ovoid, pale green with some red stippling, 2-2.5 mm long, 1.3 mm wide. Style short, 1 mm long, yellow. Fruit turbinate, 8-9 mm long, 5-7 mm wide. Seeds about 6 mm long and 2 mm wide, hairs dense, 7 mm long, silvery white when fresh.
